As we’re getting ready for tomorrow, Christmas, I’m especially thankful for those who will be eating at our table. My husband’s sister and her family will be coming, along with my brother-in-law’s mother from the nursing home. Her grandson is also coming, all the way from Maine, if all plane connections run smoothly (which is iffy with the storm in the Chicago area.)

When a meal is special, I feel it should last as long as possible. So to keep everyone at the table a little longer, bonding and getting to know each other on a more personal level, I picked up a "game" at the Christmas store. It’s just a box of cards, but everyone takes one and has to answer the question on their card.

I know what I’d say to "As a child, what was the most memorable Christmas present you received?" For me it was the chocolate brown patent leather go-go boots. (Yes, I was a young child in the 60s!)

But I’d love to hear how Grandma Z would answer "What is an important story from your family’s history?"

And I think the question "What is the perfect gift?" would be up for much discussion.

If this sounds intersting to you, why not create your own version of the game? With a little thought, you could come up with questions to ask around your holiday dinner table. Ask the children to help you and you’ve created the game together. Make the questions more general and you can play it any time of the year.

Ah, the holiday season is fast approaching, and instead of stressing out about all you need to get done, try focusing on the season.  Look at your past holidays… were they much fun?  Did you and the kids have a good time and make lasting memories?  Was the holiday special, was your family time special?

I’m really big on family time. I believe the quality of the time we spend together as a family creates strong bonds and helps us weather any storms… even the teenage years. ;-)

So I wrote an ebook called Family Holiday Memories and I’m offering it to you at a special price because I want to help you make your holidays special.
